My name is Edyta Wolny-Ibrahim. I have a PhD in Humanities. In February 2020 I defended my PhD dissertation at the University of Warsaw. My dissertation dealt with teaching Islam in Egyptian primary schools in the years 2013/2014 – 2015/2016. Based on it I prepared the book entitled „ISLAM AND CIVIC EDUCATION IN EGYPT. Analysis of Textbooks for Islamic Upbringing” (Pub. Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures Polish Academy of Sciences) – one of the few all over the world on this topic. Currently I am working at the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University in Al-Khobar (Saudi Arabia) as an Assistant Professor.
Interests
I was always interested in everything concerning the Arab World!
Until now I was mainly concentrated on scientific and didactic work. Finally, I have decided that I want to change. At the age of 30 I decided that the time for new challenges has come! Next to scientific work I wish to develop my own economic activity. I wish to meet you and cooperate with you! I wish to distribute my knowledge more, not only during scientific conferences. I want my knowledge to have more influence on our everyday life -on your life – your work, your contacts with your colleagues, your new businesses. I would like to build bridges and create new possibilities for me and you. I would like to break patterns, prejudices, explain the unknown and unclear. Sometimes, during business conversations, it is enough to know just some basic information for our interlocutor to look on us with a completely different eye. So get to know them with me!
But.. do I for sure know what I am talking about? YES
I have been collecting the experience not only during my studies but also (or maybe most of all!) as follows:
- during living and more than 40 stays in Egypt;
- during living in Saudi Arabia;
- during multiple stays in different Arab countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Tunesia, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait;
- since 2015 during scientific and didactic work;
- since 2015 during different commissions and meetings in which the representatives of countries from all over the world took part.
As you see, I am not just the scholar who sits and creates in her own office. I am a person who received knowledge in practise and saw a lot and who believes that this practical part of my work has the most huge sense. I do not wish only to create scientific articles and see only part of my research. I want to develop my skills while giving others a lot as well, that is why I deal with the didactic and, at the same time, I conduct various types of training, lectures and meetings. I decided to invest in my own economic activity. At the early beginning my company will concern mainly the broadly understood Arab world and related issues, as well as intercultural communication. But this is not the end! About every next step and stage I will inform you on an ongoing basis. I wish to develop myself and develop my company. I will cite my own words which I always repeat during the lessons which I conduct: – “every one of us learns something every day”. And let’s keep these words to be a motto of my company and you, wait for its other effects!
